  • Advantages of LSR tuners?

What are the advantages of LSR tuners over the normal type?

    cheers

They are the fastest easiest tuners to change strings. I love them and dig their unique appearance. more details are listed here.

They make a nice coat rack. Performance-wise they may be great but I just can't get past how hideous they look.

They also don't fit large strings through them, I think 60 gauge is the max

Major drawback is that they have a limited amount of tuning range. Pretty expensive, too.

One major advantage is the 40:1 ratio. Makes precise tuning a breeze. The resulting drawback as mentioned is the somewhat limited range.

I don't understand the 40:1 ratio claim, for these tuners or the Steinbergers. A standard 16:1 (or whatever) ratio means 16 complete rotations of the key for one revolution of the post. On LSR's and Steinbergers, there's no revolving post. So where do they get the 40:1 ratio?
