    hi there!

I have a Washburn Mercury, Designed by Grover Jackson, and it has the kind of tremolo arm that you have to screw in the hole to secure it, just like a stratocaster tremolo arm.. it's not like the Jackson JT580 system, that has a bolt on the tr. arm to secure it...

the problem is that no matter how deep I screw it in the hole, it always has some "free movement"... how can I correct that? Also, how can I achieve that it stays in its place, and that I don't have to screw it so deep? And that I can screw and stop its movement in any position I want? All of that is possible with the JT580 system so I was hoping this could be as useful as that one...

You could try using some plumers tape to tighten it up but that could get messy if you take the arm off much. You should be able to change the assembly that holds the trem arm for another one and that should fix your problem.

find a stiff spring that fits in the hole
figure out how long it needs to be to suit your needs and drop it in
