Ash VS Alder for Guitar Body

Hey guys,

I was considering getting an ash body for a stratocaster project guitar..
However I have not had any experience with ash bodies before and I was wondering what would be the tonal difference between ash and alder if anyone knows for sure..?

Depends on the type of ash you mean. Most likely swamp ash, I'm guessing. Read here:

Both are great, but I prefer swamp ash. It's all preferences, though. See if you can find a couple of alder and ash bodied Strats at a local dealer, and see for yourself what your own preferences are.
