    routing...

    Hey... anyone here have a quick guide to routing a battery control cavity? (I would be using the plastic battery boxes they sell at stewmac).

    I've never used a router before, so I would have to practice. I got the correct bit at stewmac as well. Would a basic Craftsmen router at Sears do the job?

    No. You need a $1500 Porter-Cable [img]graemlins/poke.gif[/img]

    Yeah, even the crappy ones at WalMart should do the trick, as long as it has the required RPMs and a good sharp bit.

      MAKE SURE YOU PRACTICE ON SCRAP FIRST! Even crappy routers have an outrageous amount of torque and get away from you easily. Since your bit is new, it should be nice and sharp. Also, you must work pretty quickly with a router, since the high RPM cause the wood to burn if you pause for more than a millisecond! Goodluck!
