  • Volume Pot

I have a Japanese made Jackson Kelly KE3 with Duncan Designed 102 pick ups.

Does anyone know what volume pots are used in this guitar.

Is there a way to measure them as there is no stamp on the pot?

I plan on changing pick up and the pick up I am thinking of getting requires a 500k pot.

I was recommended to getting myself a CTS audio taper.

Assuming the pot has three "connectors", unsolder all wires from the pot and put an ohm meter between the two most outer connectors. That will tell you the pot resistance.

You don't even need to do that - you can measure the resistance with the guitar fully wired. The pot should have three lugs, one of which is soldered to the casing. Take you ohmeter and connect the leads to the other two lugs. Turning it one way should read close to 0 ohms (probably something aroun 0.2-0.5 ohms) and turning the other way should read the fully value, probable something close to 500Kohms.
