  • Problems with M4 midboost

My guitar makes a "wind on a mic" sound when the boost is turned all the way to full. As I turn it down the sound converts into a hiss. This occurs with or without a pickup selected. I've replaced the stereo jack and the midboost pot (it was a 50k audio, I replaced with a 50k linear). I suspect a component on the board is bad. I'm gonna start checking resistor values etc. Any other ideas?

I compared it to my other M4 tonight and was surprised that the second guitar makes essentially the same noise, just no where as loud. The first guitar is unplayable as is. I may remove the boost for now. If I were to wire this up as a standard passive circuit, I would have to change the pots to 250 or 500k correct? I would probably wire it as vol/vol/tone.

Go with all 500k pots and wire as 2 vol 1 tone. The singles are stacked so no worries.guitarelectronics.com
