  • Pickup Bobbin Tape

Anyone have a source for the flat black paperish looking tape Seymour Duncan uses to cover the bobbin windings on '59 humbuckers?

I have a few old Duncans that the paper tape has dried and is falling apart.

I have looked everywhere and can't find a source.

    Thanks

Have you tried Seymour Duncan himself? I have never dealt witht he SD people myself, but I hear they are very helpful. Just an idea.

The cloth tape was falling apart on my '59, but I just covered it with black electrical tape.

art supply store or medical tape? I used black cloth medical tape on an old dimarzio, very very close to the original stuff

I did not want to do the electrical tape thing.

I found some at Allparts so I am good to go.

            Thanks for the ideas guys.

The tape makes no difference in the sound. Unless you use copper shielding tape, which would create a faraday cage and give you a cleaner, darker sound.
