Where is a good place to find flame maple? I am more interested in a cap and not a veneer for the top of a guitar as well as a source for a mahogany cap for the bottom of a guitar. Any help would be awesome for the guitar refinishing project I am going to get into here.

Stew mac has bookmatched flame maple or quilted maple tops starting at around 70 bucks. Mahogany should be easy to find. Stew mac has mahogany pieces for acoustic backs, but they are pretty thin. I know Rockler woodworking supplies sells it too.

I have these grand ideas about building my own guitar from scratch one day, so i always spend a few hours staring at the different types of wood and hardware whenever i get the new stew mac catalog. I'll probably have to wait until i retire to do so...
