  • Installing Floyd Nut on Model Neck

I have an old neck of my Mod 3 that I love, but need to put a Floyd nut on.

    1) Is this possible?
    2) If so how do I do it?
    3) Will it scre with my inotation, scale, etc?

    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

Re: Installing Floyd Nut on Model Neck

It is possible, but you probably have to route a chunk out of the neck to install the nut, and that has to be carefully measured to get the right nut height. It shouldn't mess with your intonation much as long as the point of contact at the nut remains close tot he original. YOu might consider using a "behind the nut" locking nut like on the Kahlers-i don't see why it wouldn't work for a Floyd just as well, and it just involves a few small screw holes in the headstock. See the other post about the cracked neck and decide if you want to take that chance with a neck you love so much. Putting a Floyd nut in also permanently alters the neck, whereas you can remove the Kahler types easily.
