Broken Truss rod?

Well, I'm playing a little today, and I notice a clanking type sound in the neck when I'm pulling the trem back and forth. I'm hoping for something other than what I think it is. Anyone?

well, after de-string, check-up, restring, goofing with it a bunch, I'm leaning toward this damn licensed floyd as the noise maker... scary night for me... sheesh.

I once had a creaking/clanking sound on one of my floyded guitars whenever I did a divebomb or big pullup. Thought it was the trussrod, but after checking everything it turned out to be a loose locknut. The mounting screws were about 1/2 turn loose and it was letting the nut move slightly back & forth with the changing string tension. Luckily I caught it right away & the screw holes didn't get stripped or wallowed out from the movement. I hate to say it, but this was on a brand spankin' new custom Charvel. You might want to check & see if that's what's going on.

You were RIGHT! I kept on dicking with it, and couldn't really place it until I accidentally had my finger on the top lock nut and it slipped. Thank god. Well, it's fixed for now...

Problem with those screwholes is that they're not really deep enough to put a toothpick or something if they strip.....

I use carpet tape (the kind with strong adhesive on both sides) in addition to the screws. It's really thin and won't shim the nut too high. + it's almost strong enough to do the job by itself =)
