  • Jackson Bass pick up question

My friend has a Jackson bass, made in 1986 with a nice J serial #!

It has an active electronic setup by EMG, with the standard P
J configuration. The 9V battery is located in the control cavity of course.

The Jazz pickup is a SC and has a buzz when it is on and the switch is either in the back or the middle position. There is no buzz on the front position.

We took it to a shop today and the tech said that there is a noise dampener on the H pick up but none on the SC (obviously) and that the buzz is "just how they are".....

I HATE when I get that answer.......

    Is that true?
Anyone one have any experience with an older Jackson Bass in this set up?
    Is there any solution?

He's used it on a number of recordings and doesnt recall it doing that before. Been a long time since he's really used it tho!

    Help?
    Anyone?

    Thanks guys!

    James~
