• Duncan GEQ-1 Firestorm booster VS EMG Turbocharger booster?

Both offer 20dB of gain boost, I believe. The Duncan booster is in the Jackson DK2FS, and the EMG booster is in the MG Series Jacksons. Are they pretty much the same? Can you possibly mix-and-match products? For example, you have EMG or EMG-HZ pickups with the Firestorm booster, or you have Seymour Duncan or Duncan Designed pickups with the Turbocharger.

I put the EMG boost in my DK-2.

Worked just fine with Duncan pups.

I think the units are basically similar

You should be able to mix and match, although the EMG unit is wired with their cool plug system to hook up to their pups. ( I wish Duncan would adopt this method, much superior to soldering connections.)

Once you've experienced pup swaping by pluggin/unpluging, you'll never wanna solder again.

Are all EMG products nowadays made with the quick connect things? I have older EMGs so they were soldered in my guitars.

I think the current emg stuff uses the plug-n-play method.

        Could be wrong tho..
