  • Neck w/Floyd nut on stringthru body?

I was thinking of getting a DK2 neck to put on my older KVX10 stringthru.
Can a strandard nut be fitted in place of the floyd nut? The floyd nut looks to be wider than any standard nut I've seen. Has anyone done this? Is it possible to get a nut wide enough to fill the route thats already there for the floyd nut?

Could I just leave the floyd nut on and use it without the string locks (I'd probably get locking tuners)?

Those kind of nuts exist, but I have no clue where to get 'em. Big help huh?

I asked that question a while back and it seemed obvious after someone replied. If you lock the nut you need fine tuners. I don't think a floyd nut w/o the locks would work very well btw.

Floyd nut without the locks works just fine.

Interesting. I assumed the strings would slip out.

THANKS! Thats what I would want. Unfortunately Allparts site is currently having some problems, but that's what I'd need. Thanks. Karl

Nope... in fact a Floyd nut is less likely to have a string slip out of it than a standard one.
