  • Change cap value or pot?

I've slowly been overhauling my Solosit PRO to USA specs (CTS pots, etc.), and I have a 500k volume pot and a 250k tone with a .022 cap. I have a Duncan Distortion in the bridge and I'm getting ready to install a Hot Rails in the neck, but only the DD is hooked up right now. The sound is still a bit bright to me.

Should I switch to a .047 cap or should I change the volume pot to a 250k? What would the difference be? What's the norm in this situation? Will the tone change when I put the Hot Rails into the circuit, possibly acting as another load? Thanks for any help, much appreciated.
    Cheers!

You could try a 250k pot that will tame a shrill pickup.A .047 cap will roll off more highs. Why don't you have a 500k tone pot?A 500k tone pot will give you a wider sweep and maybe darken it up a bit.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.
