I have heard about the 60-7 and am probably going to buy one really soon here. The 89-7 would be fucking awesome, since that one is supposed to be a single coil and a EMG 85 in the same pickup and people always cry for single coil 7 string pickups.

      jacksonite, how is the 60-7?

I had it confirmed at NAMM this year by folks working the EMG booth. Below is a picture of one of their display cases:

On the right side, from back to front

        707
        81-7
        60-7

One thing of note, this person told me the 60-7 was not going to be on the web or print price sheet, you would have to custom order to get one, but they would be happy to build anyone who orders one. This is similar to how I purchased my first 707s in 1997.

                Nope,

Cross between 81 and 85 but more in the vein of 85.

The 707DC were more like 81's (707 Dino Cazares - differs from the regular 707).

Emg makes an emg 81-7 since a couple of years.

Any idea why EMG 7 string pickups don't fit normal 7 string routes? Did they wind up using the bass pickup housings to save costs on their end? Kind of sucks if you have to route to make the switch to EMG's if you're a 7 string player. I hate irreversable mods like that.

That is why they did it.

So, if they're going to custom make each 60-7, I suppose one could call and have an 89-7 made too? Because I would die for an 89 in the neck of my 7 string.

Until EMG makes "normal" sized housings and not soapbar bass housings, I will wait for the 7 string Seymour Duncan Blackouts which are getting rave reviews (on the 6 string version anyway).
