  • Switching out trem, question......

I want to install an OFR in my Dinky (pictured below). I tried to look through the catalogue scans and through the trem info page to find out exactly which model I have on there now. The scans are pretty hard to read but I think I have the JT-580LP on mine. Now, the question is: Is the routed area (back where the fine tuners are) on my Dinky routed long enough so that the longer screws in the OFR won't hit the body? Has anyone here done this upgrade already? and if so, did it drop right in on the posts already in there? If not, what mods did you have to do to get it to fit?

FYI, I did search the forums but came up empty for the most part.

You managed to come up empty when doing a search in the Tech Forum? Heh, you've got some skillzz man!!

To answer your question, your trem is replacable with a OFR and no mods are needed. Just take the ol' one off and put the new one in. Tada!

That looks like a JT-580LP '94 since it's got a square baseplate. A real Floyd should fit in its place just fine.

        Okay, LOL......

I've spent the last hour doing some more digging and I'm not sure why I came up empty on the info last night. My bad guys. Thanks for giving me the info and not reaming me too bad.

So for anybody else that reads this thread, read THIS thread also http://www.jcfonline.com/forums/show...light=JT-580LP

yea, thats the older JT580LP (the '94 model) and an OFR will drop in no problem. i wish they still made the 580's like that, cuz whenever i wear mine out and put OFRs in there im gonna cringe at the weird route. wont matter while im playing though! LOL

AdRock, are you willing to take some sharp, multiple angle, close-up pictures of that tremolo, and post them here, please? I have never gotten around to include that '94 version of the JT-580LP on the TIP page- maybe some good pictures will finally get me off my ass

Sure, I'll do the best I can. My digital cam isn't the best so I might have to borrow one to get some good clear pics. I'll try to have some in the next few days.

Thanks. I bought it brand new in '95 and it's been my main guitar since then. I've put the poor thing through hell but it's still going strong.

The OFR will drop right in BUT you may have to mod the body if the trem arm stud rubs a little.
                            Really? well screw Mark Twain.
