  • Pickup ring sizes?

I want to put chrome pickup rings on my black KVX10 (pre 2006).
I see a lot of these available on the net, but is size an issue? I know I'll need flat bottomed and a "short/neck" ring and a "tall/bridge" ring, but do I need to be concerned about the size or other than that or are these pretty standard? Will the screw holes line up?

I also see some advertised as fitting EMG's. I have the stock Duncan Desinged in there now but plan on putting in EMGs as soon as I find a good deal on ebay. Will I have to change the rings?

    Thanks for any info.

    Hi there

I just bought the same guitar KVX10 and I was planning to put flat chrome humbucker rings just like the ones in the picture:

Did you found ones that match?
If so, where do you bought them? and how much did it cost you?

Can you put some pictures of your guitar to see how it looked?

    Thnx

    Nico.

Pup rings are pretty much standard. With the exception of the oversized Jackson rings for the covered pups.

Yeah pup rings are standard. Even the ones that come with the Bill Lawrence USA 500XL will fit a normal guitar, despite the fact that pickup is smaller than standard humbuckers.

That is not exactly correct. While pretty much any humbucker ring will accept the pickup, the ring mounting holes vary from ring to ring.

You can get those flat chrome rings here.

            One question

Did the pickup rings affect the sound of the pups or the guitar?

My mistake, sorry. Any rings I've had always fit the guitars I try them on. The problem with the Bill Lawrence USA ones is that they're about half an inch high! Who the hell has a bridge pickup with half an inch of room under the strings?!

I highly doubt it. Someone, somewhere, will claim it does, but seriously, no.

The strings on some guitars with non-recessed trems can get quite high, 1/2" easy.
