  • Jack Types

I went down my local music shop and played a range of different guitars to finally get an idea of the type of custom I want to order. There's just one tiny detail im undecided on and that’s the jack type. Could anyone please post pictures of the 3 types; Oval plate, Start type and panel type.
I'm going for a minimalist design so I want to smallest looking jack input possible

Strat type is on the face of the guitar, so you don't want that.
The oval and Panel type are both on the bottom edge and are essentialy the same thing. Ones square and ones oval.
What you want is a jack like what you would find on an Ibanez Jem.
Like this http://guitarelectronics.com/product/JK21, that is flush mounted into the body.

recessed jack carved from the back with room for the plug
Strat output jack mounted on the -back- of the guitar

or, like this but on the back:

I made a rock n roll sin when I tried giving in to make money, had to turn down low.

Yeah, this is what you want. Rear jack mounted a la Brian Moore.

That's really cool! I like that rear mount.

You would want a barrel jack, like the one on that bass guitar above a couple of posts.
