  • Is there a pup that has the traits of the EMG 81 for a rhythm tone and has a,

I really like some things about the EMG 81 and 85 I love the rhythm tone and aggression/tightness of the 81 for metal rhythms but I do a lot of soloing and the 81,85 models just dont have the "THEE TONE" for me lead wise
I like a more PAF type voice for leads(EVH,NEAL SCHON and guys like that) and a real tight and aggressive rhythm tone
is there a pup out there that covers both in one pickup?
    duncan custom?
    dimarzio tone zone?
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

+1 on the Custom Custom. I have been using EMG's for years, but just recently tried the CC. I now have pulled two EMG 85's and replaced them with CC's. (Ducks the EMG police ). I still love my EMG's, but the CC is my favorite Seymour Duncan.

yeah and that will get me the older PAF type lead tones as well right?
didnt EVH used to use that one when he was good?

I have a CC in a Model 1 and Model 2 Charvel. With the basswood (both of these guitars are very heavy) I am getting alot more low's and mid's than I was with the EMG.

the rhythm tone is not as thick, but this is a moot point once you add bass and drums.
