Hey 83SD, I was just going to ask that question!

Are StewMac tools of a high quality? Are there any other sources online?

stew-mac's tools are definately high quality....they can be a little pricey....i purchased some of my files and stuff from there. you can save money on needle and flat files by just going to the hardward store. All of my dressing files are just basic small 3 corners and flat files I purchased from the local hardward store. if you are going to be refretting -- invest in a fret press....stew-mac has them.

Anywhere is cheaper than stew.... Try LMI (www.lmii.com). They have most of it as well.

You need- a good straight edge, some razorblades, steel wool (0000 grade) MASK the pickups before using steel wool!!!!!!! good flat sanding block, normal files, and a fret crowning file.

In other words the only "luthiers" tool you need, is a crowning file.....
