  • Solid Quilt Maple Project

    This one is for me

I just got started on this today. It's a one piece Quilt Maple body, fitted with a one piece Birdseye Maple neck. Here are a few pictures so you can follow along on this project. I still have a lot of work to do to the body.... Tummy and forearm contours, radius the edges and the joys of sanding . Unfortunately it will probably be several days before I get a chance to work on this again. But in the mean time I'm thinking about finishing this one in trans amber. Do you think I should have the headstock match the body or leave it natural?

    That is gonna look awesome.
Leave the headstock natural. Shoot some clear on it and call it good.

This is the dinky you were telling me about??? Awesome man, just awesome! The headstock will look good either way, but I'll have to admit a body matching quilt veneer would be cool too. Keep us posted on this one!

That's gonna look fantastic when it's all done. Leave the headstock natural.

With trans amber, I would leave the headstock natural. If it was a graphic of some kind I'd match it. I'd just oil the neck and shoot some clear on the face of the headstock. Looks awesome!

Mmmmm, trans amber will be great! I'd say leave the headstock natural, but the matching I'm sure would be a nice touch, too.
