  • Paint spray gun advice needed.

I have a big enough compressor now to start painting using proper paint rather than rattle cans. I want to get a gun, but I don't have a clue about them. Keep in mind, I don't plan on doing this professionally, so I don't need a $5,000 gun, just a decent, useable gun. What's out there, and what features should I look for?
    Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

I had posted previously about a Devilbiss Finishline "kit" I got from Eastwood. It has 2 HVLP guns, a standard size and a mini with tools, cleaning stuff etc. I saw it was on sale at Eastwood this week for $89. It's here:

It works great and the quality is there for doing guitars or cars for that matter. So, you can get 2 guns plus tools for under $100. Not bad. I just did 2 guitars with the guns. I used the larger for primers, basecoats and clear coats and used the smaller for clear coating a headstock.

+1 ... good guns at a really good price.

But I have to agree with Sully ... rollers work best.

Yea, the rollers I get at Home Depot were better than the ones at Lowes. The ones with the larger nap get that cool rock effect going!
