  • SL-1 pickup. Feedback please

My SL-1 soloist comes up a little weak in the pickup department. It has stock single coils(jacksons) and a lawrence humbucker in the back. It's a tad too bright and trebly for me.

I have JB's in a few other guitars...but might consider something else, just to see if I can obtain a different, satisfying sound. I do some clean playing as well so it'd have to be versatile(EMG's are out) along with providing good tone. ALSO: the volume knob on this guitar is FAR too easy to turn on and off. One accidental contact with it cuts the volume ridiculously. Is there a way to tighten it up without replacing the pot?

I don't think trem spacing is necessary as I have an early 80's jb in my '82 and it screams.

Thanks in advance, all feedback is welcome.

The Duncan Custom is my favorite pickup. It cleans up great if you roll off the volume a little. Give it a try! WRT to the pot, it's just too easy to replace it rather than mess around. The symptoms sound like more than what a simple cleaning would fix.
