  • Headstock veneers

I don't know if this is the correct forum, but I noticed a while ago that all of my Jacksons & Charvels with natural maple headstocks have a veneer on top of the headstock. Does anybody know what the reason for this is?
I mean maple veneer on maple headstock does not make too much sense in my opinion ... but what do I know?

The veneer is probably a nicer looking piece of flamed maple... for looks only.
