  • Humbucker question

    Ive got 2 matching generic humbuckers that were a set. They have no markings except for one has an F stamped on it and the other has an R. I forget which one is neck and bridge. Anyone know how F and R relate to bridge and neck? Im thinking front and rear, I dont know.

    F = Floyd spaced... maybe. "R" i dunno.

    Is one more rusty or corroded than the other? If so, that's the bridge pup.

      I would guess in a case like this:

      F = Front (neck)
      R = Rear (bridge)

      You could also measure the distance of the polepieces, or measure the length of the wires, but if there is no difference, it's kinda hard to tell.

        Sunbane is correct. Most cheapo pickups are marked like this. I know, because I always rip them out and put Duncans in.

          Thanks all. I was thinking the front-rear thing too. They are new with the same length of wire. I guess I will just have to break down and use the meter on them. I need the neck one for a project. It will match the zebra dimarzio that I am putting in the bridge.
