  • Need help with this pretty 1B??

    Folks,

Got this on E'bay for $150.
I don't know the year or model Serial #287747.
    Excellent shape except:
    1. Someone messed with the electronics, dissconnected the tone pot.
    2. The tone Capacitor is missing.
    3. I can't tell what pickup brand it has because there are no markings on it. (they are pretty ugly white _uckers)
    4. I need a wiring diagram.
    5. I would like to know the year, model and country of origin. It says Fort Worth Texas on the neck plate.
I would like to wire it with a "no-load" or "TBX" tone pot and quarter pound SD pickup if I can't find out what is supposed to be in the original. The pots in there now are 500k.

    Any help out there??

    Thanks,

Fort Worth Neck Plate and and 1 "P" pickup, should be a 86-88 1B made in Japan.

Someone should be along shortly to verify.

    By the way, welcome.

Congrats on your new 1B, you certainly got it for a good price. Looks like it has a d-tuner too!

I only play four strings and we did some drop D shit ala Unchained..Those hipshots d tuners were mandatory..they still are..

That looks like a very nice bass for the dough..

Anybody know if J/C used Schaller pickups in the 80's? I think these may be Schaller PB series. They have 2, 10mm wide X 80mm long magnets with adjustable poles for each string.

What strings will sound good on my 1B?

              Got it all done.

All new wiring, pots, a 1/4 pound SD and set-up by a pro.

              What strings sound good?

              I's sort of after a P-Bass sound.

              thx
