• Charvel (Shawn Lane)

Hey guys my friend is an big fan of Shawn Lane, so he bought the charvel that Lane used in one of his instruction vids

he has a few questions:
What type of wood has it?
is it an japanese or USA model?
What pickups?

Here is a picture:

serial number: 0904461

Thanks in advance

That's a Charvel 750, the Soloist Archtop. The first number of the serial you quoted is actually the letter "C." It's a 1989 model. The set in neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard. The body is mahogany with a maple flamed top. The finest Charvel import ever made, and in my opinion, the finest Charvel ever made. (I didn't pick the model's name for my email/screen name for nothing!) Shawn also had a string through in cherry burst, yours is amber. The original Jackson pickups were normally the J-50 neck and a J-80 bridge. No active circuit in the originals. Sometimes a J-50 bridge hum was used too. The five way switch was used to tap the humbuckers to simulate single coil tones. A lot of us like EMG's in these guitars. I have two myself and it really doesn't get much better...

hey, I saw a on a dutch guitarboard the same topic... same guitar?

anyway, I post over there under the (ok, it is blasphemy over here) Ibanez Rulez

anyway, nice guitar. I was wondering about the same thing, cuz I expected lane to use customs, and no factory charvels, but never the less, great guitar.
