• Charvel Fusion finish... Not in my books, help needed.

    Hi there,

I've been looking for a Fusion Plus to replace the one I got brain damaged and sold...

Well, i found one, but the finish doesn't match my records. Any help?

    He's asking $330 for her.

    Thanks.

Edited to post the picture... doh!

that's no Jackson finish. It looks like it's been stripped and stained (or oiled, maybe?)

I agree with Vitamin G....tung oiled maybe? Or could be just sanding sealer. Is that ash? That is too bad!

Yeah...basswood. I couldn't tell if it had a cap on it. They used an ash cap for transparent Fusions, yes? Maybe he stained it dark and is calling it mahogany! It doesn't even look like mahogany, really.

The fingerboard matches? Looks like somebody went to a lot of trouble.

maybe it's finished in some kind of mahogany-coloured stain. Or the oil has just darkened the wood. But definitely not mahogany.

The trans finished Fusion Pluses were solid ash.

axtogrind, doesn't look like a whole lot of trouble. Somebody stripped and finished the body, and it just happens to match the rosewood fretboard. The headstock still has it's black face, but it's reflecting the light in the room.

Actually, the headstock is not black, it really matches the body. I asked the guy to see the axe first hand, and he lives in my city so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'll let you guys now how it went.

As always, thanx for your help!

ANYWAY it looks pretty good to me, if the guy did a good job. And like a buddy of mine used to say, you can't play a paint job. [He was a much better player than I am. And I am a lot more obsessed with every little ding and scratch than he was. Go figure! ]
