All down to you there but I think the gold gives it a "classier" look.

hmm...i want that classic charvie look...dunno if black suits it..i'm quite tempted by the chrome, but would take gold perhaps with a slightly darker shade of red...i'm just messin with the USA custom guitar site thing here.......i'm thinking PAF in the bridge...strat neck singlecoil...alder body

Gold on Red will give the Red a richer color.. it will bring out the color of the guitar ..

Just remember that if you go GOLD, the gold WILL start to wear off, as time goes by. Some like that, others don't.

hmmm..i don't want it to luck just tacky tho...i don't wanna replace it after a few months coz i'm sick of it...i think the darker red suits the gold better...but am also a fan of the sivler with the lighter red...although it makes the guitar a bit plainer...

I'd go with a brass V bridge and use black tuners like Charvel did back in the day and try to find a phenolic nut or just use a good graphite nut.I did a strat old school style and absolutly love the brass saddles they let the guitar "sing".
