  • Cost To Replace A Broken Truss Rod?

A local guitar shop is selling this cool G&L bass for $275, but "the truss rod is broken", according to the hangtag on the guitar. If I bought it, how much would I expect to pay to have it replaced?

    Pass on it.
In most cases you would have to remove the fret board to repair/replace a broken truss rod.
It would be cheaper to just buy a new neck.

Then again, who pronounced the truss rod as dead? A reputable technician? Could just be the end nut is stripped and needs to be replaced. Most I've seen are brass on a steel rod. Brass is weak and a steel threaded rod will eat it for lunch.
