• Gibson Flying V Restoration Project

I just thought I'd share some pics of my latest project.
The owner had this guitar painted once before and as you can imagine from the pics, he wasn't very happy with it so he sent it to me. The pics on the left show the guitar in the condition in which I recieved it. The pics on the right show my attempt to bring this guitar back to life.

Amazing job! Is that poly or lacquer? And how long did it take you to sand that control route back to bare wood?

Nice work! Lacquer or Acrylic Lacquer? How many coats of
Clear? How much time to cure before sanding/buffing??
Now can you play like Schenker.........

Thanks for the compliments guys.
It's acrylic urethane.
It takes about 1-1/2 hours to cure before you can wetsand.

As for the cavities ... I just used stripper and cleaned them up with sandpaper.

Great job, you really did bring that guitar back to life. I'm sure the owner is mega happy.

Where can you get a truss cover that says Gibson on it now? I'd sell you mine, but it's not black/white like that....and nah, I wouldn't sell it, but a mirror one might be nice one day.....
