Wow, havent heard that name in at least 20 years! Is this the same guy as The Jon Butcher Axis who opened for Krokus/Def Leppard in 1983?

        gotta be, no?

he was a good Hendrix imitator. that's about it, though.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

seems he's gonna carry that Hendrix thing with him forever, but hey its helped him make an otherwise indistiguishable career...

Yes, it is the same guy from the Axis. Personally, I think he's a great writer and player. Those of you who only know (and base your opinion on) his career from the Axis days should seek out and listen to some of his subsequent material. Check him out at www.jonbutcher.com . And as far as the Hendrix comparison goes, doesn't that seem somewhat unavoidable for an African American man playing rock on a Strat?

              I am with you singlehum!

I never felt he was a Hendrix guy. Randy Hanson is a Hendrix guy!

I always like him and the last time I went to NAMM in 1988 he was one of the featured artists (along with Y&T btw) who played a short set at the NAMM JAM at the Celebrity Theatre. The show was hosted by Sam Kinison, and many folks were there, including EVH.

Jon Buthcher is a very good musician and I enjoy his music.
