  • String Cleaning Rags

Go one of those string cleaning rags FREE when I bought some strings. G&L brand I think.

I kept cleaning my strings and the rag was a tan color. It kept getting blacker and blacker - must have been some chemical reaction with the strings.

The black stuff got all over my maple fretboards. So I stopped using the damn rag and that solved that problem.

Moral of the story...don't use em if you have a maple fingerboard.
    PLAY TILL U DIE !!!

    Re: String Cleaning Rags

I just wipe the strings down with a cloth baby diaper when I'm done playing. No chemicals, just a quick wipe.
Same goes for the guitar as well, just a quick wipe down after every use. Again, no chemicals or oils.
I only clean my guitars when I change the strings.
And every guitar I own has a maple board.
