What are the differences between these procedures? Is it complicated to do them?

Econ, you really need to invest in one of Dan Erlewine's books and or video's. These books and video's are invaluable in guitar repair, setup or building one from scratch or painting one. His book on guitar repair is a "bible" of sorts on all types of repairs. His books and videos are available from www.stewmac.com or Amazon, Barns Noble etc. bookstores. I highly recommend them and so do others on the forum that have them.

Basically fret leveling is the most complicated and takes practice. Ideally, it should be done on a neck that is under string tension. Filing, crowning and polishing are simpler, but quite tedious and is seperate from leveling.

Also get ready to purchase a lot of specialized tools to perform these operations.
