  • Whys no retro-fit for Model series floyd nuts?

The weakest link on all of my Model series is that damm "behind the nut" locking nut. The nut just slips too much and the high "E" seems to break more often due to the angle that it is on.

Could someone manufacture (perhaps Stew Mac or even our own Budman?) and sell a retro-fit base that would allow the installion of a proper Floyd Rose style nut once the original as well as the black plastic nut are removed.

We have all seen people here install a real Floyd nut after making some sort of platform or shim out of wood. What about some sort of strong plastic perhaps?

It would allow for a quick transformation without butchering the guitar.

This could be interesting. You're right, the behind the nut locking nut tends to break strings more often.

What's wrong with wood? Whatever the material it is going to have to glued on or attached to the neck some how. Interesting idea to be able to pick up ready fit shim though.
