anyone have any suggestions on cutting a neck pickup hole on a Charvel model 1 body?

and how would I go about cutting a path for the wire?

    Thanks!

Any decent router will make short work of the pickup hole.
As for the wires, a really long drill bit or a dremel with a small bit attached to a flex head.

Go to www.stewmac.com and get a router template for the pickup your going to install and a 1/2" and 3/8" router bits with ball bearings. Also get the double back industrial tape. They also have some free information on doing this and other work. The template is fastened by the double stick tape. It is really strong so it will stay where you put it and won't harm an existing finish.
Wire passages: Use an "aircraft" drill bit (really long bit), 3/16" diameter will work. If you can find can't one locally, (usually a machine shop supply house)I suggest www.mcmaster.com. Drill straight thru from the neck pocket bottom on center thru to the neck pickup routing, then into the bridge pickup routing. The existing hole in the bridge pickup routing to the control cavity must be enlarged to 3/8" with a standard drill bit. Have Fun! Hope this Helps!

I have good friend who is a guitar tech. He is a perfectionist, and is very anal about his work. He uses a dremel, believe it or not. Took it to his 86 SD to make room for a neck humbucker. Looks great, although some may not want to try that technique.

No, those are for the pickguards. You need the "Cavity" templates.
