    if i want to change the pickups and bridge of a guitar but am too squeemish to do it myself, should i be charged for the amount of time spent doing the mods or on the basis of what work is actually required? are there any guidlines which which will help me avoid getting ripped off?

      just call a few luthiers (most smaller guitar shops will have one) and tell em what you want done, and have them price it out for ya.

      shop around that way for the best deal to start out with, and see how their work is.
