• Bill Lawerence Pickups (Orig vs. Fake) L500XL

I'm heard some good things about his pickups. I did some searching and I found that you can purchase some knock-offs. I was wondering if anyone has compared the two and would like to share their findings.

They are very close. I have a guitar with a real hand wound 500XL and the import version. Its tough to tell the difference. The USA model is a little hotter with a little more midrange and top end but its VERY little.

      Here's the real Bill's site. http://www.billlawrence.com/

Here's the site of his old partner. http://www.billlawrenceusa.com/

Interesting read about who claims to be the real deal.

Technically the 'fake' ones are more legit. The guys name isnt even Bill Lawrence. Fucking lame

i think the originals are more legit considering bill lawrence actually knows his pickups. he improved gibsons when he worked with them and fender is currently using one of his designs. the faker company is using all bill lawrences old designs cuz thats all he knows.

I once heard that there actually is no guy named Bill Lawrence, and that it just was the name of the company. Sounds pretty strange, though, when I think about it...

There are a couple old threads that really go into this in detail. Read the links provided by Toejam. I use and sell Wajcman L500XLs
