I recently bought a Fusion USA (thanks again to The Eristic ) I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet because I've had a lot going on. So my question is.... do the pickups use a battery like EMG's? I'm assuming so because they're "active" pickups.

The pickups aren't active, but the pre-amp uses a battery.

The pre-amp changes the output to a low impedance signal AFTER the p/u's, pots and switches. With EMG's, the entire circut is low-imp.

Stilletto Duece 1/2 Stack, MkIII Mini-Stack, J-Station, 12 spaces of misc rack stuff, Sonar 4, Event 20/20, misc outboard stuff...

Why do I still want MORE?

Actually EMG pickups work the exact same way, but the preamp is encased in the pickup (if you really wanna get anal)
