  • material to shim neck?

i did a search but no dice. i believe people have simply used a folded up business card to shim a neck to lower the action on a guitar with a top mount floyd?

Yep, that works fine. Anything, really. The harder the better.

chuck prefers artisan-carved wafer thin shims of 100% poplar. the greener the better, right chuck?

I know some people that have shimmed necks with light guage picks.

You can also buy metal (ie brass) shim stock in various thicknesses. Cut to fit with normal scissors.

You can also take a router and angle cut the pocket. That's what I did in my younger days.

                          1. Neck joint is smaller/thinner/less high = better fret access
                          2. Better coupling wood to wood = better tone
                          3. What the hell was I thinking? = It was an Aria LOL!
