• Hardware question (COW 7 String)

<font color="aqua">Please forive me if this has been mentioned before but I'll be damned if I can find it. I saw this in a Jackson ad, does anyone know what is attached to the headstock after the nut on this 7 string?

I think that's the famous piece of foam that Mr. Wolbers uses to mute the strings behind the nut.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does the foam mute behind the nut? Wouldn't the noise coming from that area of the guitar be pretty insignificant?

Dial up some Fear Factory level gain, and do some muted chops on the low strings. Try it with a piece of foam under there, and you will notice a difference.
