I've got a guitar with a bone nut and lately the g string has been sticking really badly. Every time I bend, it won't go back in tune. So I'm constantly retuning that string, back and forth. I use 11's so I was thinking that the nut might not have been slotted big enough for that size string. But, the g string is the only one that does that, and I can't imagine that the difference between 9's, 10's, and 11's would be that substantial a difference to cause problems on the unwound strings. Does the nut need some lubrication? And what would I use to lube up the bone? Normally I use Mother Nature's lube on bone - spit. But I don't think that would be proper in this case.

it's possible that the string gauge is enough of a difference to make it stick. try folding some 400 or 600 grit paper in 1/2 and run it through the slot a couple of times. there's a few kinds of nut lube on the market, but other than pencil graphite, i haven't tried them.
