• My RR1 has started humming really loud.

I checked all the grounds, and everything is cool there. Could it be that I need a new battery?

How about the sauder itself? Maybe your falling victim to some cold-solder joints.

Since solder cools fairly quickly, they were cold about 5 minutes after they were done.

Try different cables - could have a loose connection.
Double check the wires on the jack itself - could be that one's loose or has a stray hair.

Could also be a problem with the amp itself (input jack?)

Yeah, you know how Jacksons are - so good they play themselves

No, it's definitely the guitar, not a cord or amp issue. I'll try changing the battery I guess.

I only have EMG's in one Rhoads. When the battery starts going dead it doesn't hum, it just gets distorted when playing clean.

EMGs or a Jackson active board with passives?

The guitar has broken. Sell it before it's too late and get a new one.

But seriously if it's a loud humming from my experience it's often caused by the bridge/strings not being connected to the same ground with the pots/pickups.
Does it hum with both pickups?

Yes it's the Jacksons with the pre-amp, and it hums really bad on either pickup. I'm going to have to open her up again, and see if something is touching, and maybe check all the joints again.

Zeegs, if it were me, I would throw a set of Duncans in there, wire it for 2 vol, 1 tone, and be done with it. That's just me though.

Your preamp could have gone bad. Try bypassing it. Personally, I am not a fan of that preamp.
Hum originating from the guitar itself is usually either:
bad ground in the guitar
bad active electronics

You know, before I got the guitar, I figured I would put Duncans in it when it arrived, but the Jackson actually sound killer. I'll have to go through everything to see if I can solve it.

It sounds minor. If it starts humming show tunes you have a serious problem.
