Since solder cools fairly quickly, they were cold about 5 minutes after they were done.
Try different cables - could have a loose connection.
Double check the wires on the jack itself - could be that one's loose or has a stray hair.
Could also be a problem with the amp itself (input jack?)I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

I only have EMG's in one Rhoads. When the battery starts going dead it doesn't hum, it just gets distorted when playing clean. [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]Scott

But seriously if it's a loud humming from my experience it's often caused by the bridge/strings not being connected to the same ground with the pots/pickups.

Yes it's the Jacksons with the pre-amp, and it hums really bad on either pickup. I'm going to have to open her up again, and see if something is touching, and maybe check all the joints again.Comment

Zeegs, if it were me, I would throw a set of Duncans in there, wire it for 2 vol, 1 tone, and be done with it. That's just me though.Scott

Your preamp could have gone bad. Try bypassing it. Personally, I am not a fan of that preamp.
Hum originating from the guitar itself is usually either:
bad ground in the guitar
bad active electronicsComment
