What do you guys use to clean surface rust on the string lock screws etc. of a bridge? Also, what can you use to clean up the chrome on a bridge? The chrome isn't rusted or pitted, just needs a good cleaning. Thanks!

Re: Cleaning surface rust on a bridge.
WD40 works well for me to get rid of the rust on old floyds. i just cleaned one up the other day that's from the 80s and it came out great, no rust left. i just use a tooth brush and some WD40 then some paper towels to get the residue off. as for the chrome if you want to polish it you can use most forms of automotive chrome polish by meguiars or mothers etc. i was using regular auto chrome polish for quite some time with no problems then fender teamed up with meguiars and made this stuff http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/420857/ so i went with that and it works good.

A toothbrush and some gun oil... If there is some spotting that is rough, some 0000 super-fine steel wool with a drop or two of oil for any rust that you can't get with the toothbrush. The 2nd Amendment: America's Original Homeland Defense.
