Do most J/C necks have a heel width of 2 1/4"? I'm thinking about building a project and I want to stay with J/C parts and a strat style body. What things should I consider to keep it cheap? I've also noticed 22 fret necks are much less expensive than 24 fret necks.

oops, sorry about that. That is some very useful info.
But now that I've read it, I have another question. How can you tell if a body was originally a had 22 or 24 fret neck? That way if I see a parts body on eBay and want to find a neck, how can I be sure what came on it originally?E = FbComment

As far as I know, you have to know what kind of guitar the body comes from, then look at "complete" models to see how many frets the neck has.
