Is it possible to repair a neck that is cracked where the screw holes are drilled thru the neck for the lock nut.

Haha, that's so true!
Sure, most Ibanez's play good.. but they aren't built too well, and the finishes do not hold up, and that's a fact!

Hope you get it fixed up, cracks in the neck is a PITA!

If he'd quit looking at wore out BC Richs' he wouldn't have this problem.

Here's what he's looking at if I'm not mistaken.
B.C. Rich Gunslinger

He was telling me about it at work today. Doesn't sound like the guy is very willing to show pics of the crack from his responses in the listing.

Yeah, those pictures are really great. Maybe if the guy took even a halfway decent picture he wouldnt get so many of the same questions. Those bad pics will probably cost him $$ as the bidding seems pretty low.

That's the guitar that got me thinking about it, when I first saw it, it was $51 plus shipping. I wouldn't buy it for the current bid now. Didn't Jackson also use the same locking nut with bolts all the way thru the neck?

Re: Cracked Neck Repair

Old school USA Charvie s-head and Jackson San Dimas era had the bolt thru. They started switching over to the top mounts about 1988. Charvels in Japan had the behind the nut locking in the mid 80's.

I have just the neck for that Gunslinger tho...kinda weird he doesn't have the ability to take other pics. He hasn't any recent activity past June in wins or sales where as before he only lapsed a month here n there.

Re: Cracked Neck Repair

Thanks for the info. I thought I remembered Jacksons using that same type nut. I am still interested in knowing if a cracked neck can be fixed for future reference.

Generally speaking, yes. There are a hell of a lot of varibles there, but...

Almost anything can be glued and doweled back together. It may not be pretty when it's done, but it will generally work just fine.

And, I repeat: There are a hell of a lot of varibles here.

Thanks Chuck, sounds to me like it's best to stay away from any cracks.
