Are there any available? Not that I would do it but I'm interested in the materials, instruments and process nedded for painting a guitar.

try Reranch.com, there's good info there on painting/finishing.

I recently painted and finished my old Tele body, and the info there was invaluable.

I found that doing a professional level job at home is near impossible, maybe unless you have massive practice over time. you have to really be patient and the sanding is key. although I enjoyed doing it, I found it very hard work, and all the little mistakes show up, and have to be sanded out and recovered with paint or the gloss (or both if you sand through).

my tele is now being assembled and set up by my luthier and I'll post pics when it's done. I sort of got a satin finish the way I did mine, over charcoal pinflake color.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
