• How is the JDR-94?

How do they play? Good first Jackson? Approximate value?

I could only find one decent picture.

Thanks.

They play nice. Concept series - kind of a forerunner to the performer line, but maybe slightly better. Pups aren't great, but they're okay.

Used should definitely be under $200, probably under $150 these days.

I think COncepts were korean made, while Performers were japan made.

But, maybe I'm wrong.

The seller says he has replaced the pickups with real Duncans. An yeah, it is about $200US.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I think you have it backwards; the earlier model (concept) was Japanese. The Performer was Korean (and maybe even Indian at one point - I'm not sure of that one).

Didn't the Concept turn into the JDR94 with just a different bridge? (Or am I thinking of something else?) And I thought they were both Japanese made.

Definitely Japanese,i had a JDX 94 Concept series,it was a good guitar for the money.Of the japanese Jacksons i've owned the only one that felt as good as a Select was an SL3.

Looks like my PS-4, only it has plain black knobs.

My PS-4 was made in Japan.

It's a nice guitar.

Well, I bought it. There was a SD pickup of which I know nothing about in the bridge. How can I tell what pickup this is?

It plays great. I thought I got a bargain at $350AU.

that's not a bad price, Aaron. Next string change, pull the pickup out and look for markings on the back. There (hopefully) will be some kind of code that you can crossreference on the Duncan site

Well, I pulled it out, and it only said -

Trembucker
Patents applied for

Made in U.S.A

There are lots of trembuckers. I can only describe it as having 12 little metal things on each thing, so 24 in all. They're not circles, they're rectangles. Like this:

---------------------
| 00 00 00 00 00 00 |

| 00 00 00 00 00 00 |
---------------------

That's a Parallell Axis Trembucker (the pole pieces are like that to better line up with Floyd string-spacing). Those pickups kick ass!! It's bascially a Duncan Distortion with the extra pole pieces to keep the strings in better alignment. If you don't like it, I'll buy it off of you.

Well, I can't really put it to it's full potential, because I only have a 10watt practice amp at the moment.

I'll see how I like it when I get to play through a real amp. If I don't, I'll let you know.
