I used them a looooong time ago, like back in 96 or 97.
My impression... a bit overpriced and my GHS' held up much better in the tone dept.
I'm a GHS fan, always have been. Love them boomer 9's.

Re: Dean Markley Blue Steel Strings

I love them, they're my favorite strings. About a year ago I went thru a phase where I tried about every string I hadn't tried before, and I ended up with the Blue Steel 11-52's on all my guitars. They were recommended to me by some friends of mine in a band called Ten Missing Days. I think they've got a great feel and the all-steel material gives it an edgier sound. They seem like they last a little longer too.

Blue Steels do sound good, but they'll wear down your frets faster since they're pure steel and not nickel plated steel.

No? Stainless steel frets? Anyone try them with the blue steels?

Thanks all, I might give them a shot on a guitar I don't play too often.

right now using dean markley nickelplated strings... they have held tone for a long period of time. i'm sure the blue steel's are worth the price.

Re: Dean Markley Blue Steel Strings

don't ship a guitar with normal frets strung with blue steels. i received such a guitar. it was packed very well. but during shipping there must have been something heavy sitting right on top of the box. basically the blue steels cut grooves into the 3-4 frets right around the centerline of the box.

I never had much luck with Dean Markley, i thought that they broke too easily and the tone only lasted a little while. I've been using D'addario for years now, they last hella longer and the tone stays for a long time.
