  • Dimarzio pickup question

Ive got this mystery humbucker in my st-3. Its not original but it is labeled dimarzio on the backplate and I was told by the previous owner that it was a super D. Well, it measures at 9.25 K. I thought a super D was like 13.5 and a paf was like 8.25. Any idea what it might be? Its 4 conductor, with both rows of poles the hex kind, black, regular spaced.

    Re: Dimarzio pickup question

it could be the Fred model DP153. dimarzio.com shows that it has the hex magnets and an output of 10.07k. the patent # is 4501185. hope that helps.

    thanks, dave

i would also guess it's a fred but who knows for sure. this is why i wish dimarzio put a small sticker with the model of the pickup on the bottom like duncan does. oh well.

I have had some that did, and some older ones had the number stamped on the bottom but it seems the newer ones are unmarked?

          Re: Dimarzio pickup question

My DiMarzios have been stamped in the baseplate like DP100.

I've never seen a sticker but I'm not a huge DiMarzio fan.
